Alpha at Lausanne Movement Congress

It was an honour and a privilege to represent Alpha EMENA at this year’s 4th Congress of the Lausanne Movement. This event, launched in 1974 by Billy Graham, brought together over 5,000 delegates from around the world to discuss the challenges and opportunities in fulfilling the Great Commission. The conference’s theme, “Let the Church Declare and Display Christ Together,” emphasised that the Church has traditionally excelled at declaring Christ, but also called on us to be more intentional in displaying Christ’s love and unity. It encouraged us to set aside our differences and focus on our shared mission, fostering collaboration across borders, cultures, languages, denominations, and ministries.

As part of the exhibition, our Alpha stand provided an invaluable platform to engage with hundreds of interested delegates and share a preview of our new Alpha Youth Series, which received fantastic feedback. Although my time on stand duty meant I missed some sessions, I regretted particularly missing a memorable moment: our colleague Sona from Fellowship participating in a plenary discussion on the main stage, which was highlighted by many attendees as a truly remarkable part of the conference.
